Adelaide Fringe Op Shop Tour

Guest post by Joy from Repurposing Joy
As part of the Adelaide Fringe 2015 I took the funtastic opportunity to check out some awesome op shops around Adelaide.
Around 45 women (and my partner!) climbed aboard a charter bus at the meeting point of Red Cross, Rundle Street.
The tour was hosted by the lovely Jo! Jo, originally from Adelaide, now lives and works in Melbourne, but hosts these op shop tours for fun! And we are so glad she does!

Entertaining us with musical numbers and stories, Jo brings us to the first op shop on the tour who have opened the doors especially for us on a Saturday. Not only that, they have provided us with morning tea and a discount on most items. I managed to bag myself some Glomesh at this stop!

We visited 5 op shops all together, including Goodwill and in between we had fun comparing bargains with all the ladies on the bus.
Before I went on the tour I was unsure on what kind of bags to bring, if any, to store my purchases. I ended up bringing an esky on wheels which proved to be useful for storing breakable items and also for the walk back to the car when we finished! But all of the op shops on the tour supplied us with bags so I need not have worried! Our bus driver, Kaylene was very accommodating in regards to letting us on and off the bus and safe storage of our purchases. She was even seen bagging a bargain or two on the tour!

I would recommend op shop tours to anyone with an interest. You spend a comfortable time frame at each shop and it is a great way to locate city op shops without the traffic hassle. Even better, we all went away with an A4 list of Jo’s favourite op shops.
