“Vinnies in Alice Springs Turns 50
50 Years of Op Shopping I think that deserves a party or two and that’s what is being planned in Alice Spring mid year.
Melissa got in touch to let us know about her store. Vinnies was originally located on Gap Rd in a building that now houses the Gap Youth Centre.
I asked what makes their shop special (they are all special though of course).
“We receive lots of comments from interstate visitors saying we are the nicest op shop they have been to and I think it is because we are so well organised, products are arranged in very distinct categories and I believe we divide our clothing into more categories than the average op shop, for example instead of having a rack of ladies ‘bottoms’ we have a separate rack for, shorts, skirts, jeans, gym clothes, plus sizes, work wear, casual trousers, maternity and vintage.
Our customers find it very easy to navigate the store and find what they want quickly.
Donations are sorted and stored on site and we welcome customers requests for us to check the warehouse for specific items, broadening their range of choice.
We have recently upgraded our shop fittings to improve our customers shopping experience. ”
That sounds amazing and the photos show a pretty amazing layout.
Starting in February they will be introducing Thursday late night shopping, opening until 7pm. How awesome are late night hours at op shops for all those who work or prefer to shop minus the babies and toddlers. Do you op shop late night or would you if it was offered?
When – They are open Mon to Fri, 9 to 5 and Sat 9 to 1pm
Where – You can find them at 38 Railway Terrace, Alice Springs NT 0870
