Ever wanted the low down on the highs and lows of what can happen in an op shop? Well this may be the performance for you!
Till Tales is running on selected dates between the 5th and the 22nd of October.
You are invited into Scavengers after hours for a rare glimpse behind the counter.
Nestle in amongst the bric-a-brac as writer and performer Julie-Anna Evans, a.k.a. Jewels, shares a collection of thrifted and original tales and recollections inspired by a decade-long day job and the colourful customers she’s met along the way.
Till Tales is a site-specific show performed in Scavengers. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the popular thrift shop, situated right at the heart of Sydney Road.
The sights, sounds, smells, and textures within the store open up a gateway for memory, which often results in the sharing of stories by those who walk through the doors. This show is about community, connection, and intimate moments shared with strangers. Sometimes it’s easier to share our rawest thoughts and feelings with a stranger than with those closest to us.
Julie-Anna Evans is a Brunswick-based Actor with over 25 years’ experience in a wide variety of roles across theatre and screen. Julie-Anna draws from a solid foundation in physical theatre, storytelling, comedy, movement, and character-based work to bring the shop to life.
The worlds of theatre and op-shopping collide in this whimsical and nostalgic salute to the things we’ve loved and let go of.
Till Tales Weird and wonderful stories shared in Scavengers, Brunswick’s iconic second-hand store.
