What is Share A Book?

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) run the fantastic program called Share-A-Book where they collect new and quality pre-loved books to distribute across Australia. The collected books can be sent to their Sydney office at 208 New South Head Road, Edgecliff NSW 2027.  The books will then be checked and distributed to various recipients in locations such as Tennant Creek, Palm Island, Groote Eylandt, Kempsey, Wagga Wagga and many more. Please ensure the books are in excellent condition they cannot accept damaged, torn or outdated books, encyclopedias, manuals, text books, magazines, religious books, or books with adult themes. They are especially keen on receiving books for early readers from birth to about aged 8.
I have now given you an excuse to op shop if you needed one!
We believe all Australians have the right to literacy, because being able to read and write is the key to accessing education and employment, and to participating fully in society.
